Gate.com pushes Plesk for their Linux servers, something I’m sure not everyone will enjoy so much as it pushes up the price per user. They allow from 2TB to 5TB data transfer with each server.

They also offer a network backup plan starting at $35/month, this feature should be considered very carefully as data loss is no joke.

They throw in an SSL certificate, free Adwords, MySpace and Facebook ad credit, 3 dedicated IP addresses, 24×7 phone, email and web based support, they don’t mention what brand their servers are so they’re not likely to be a premium brand sadly.

They support both Windows and Linux hosting, with a premium for a Windows license. You can also get Plesk and cPanel licenses from them. GoDaddy are one of the largest web hosts in the world, they’re massive. Tell us your experiences with them.

They even offer lease to own servers! (Own your server after 12 months and only pay the colocation fees after that!).

They give you a large range of operating systems to install, most of the flavours of Linux as well as Windows 2008 and 2003.

The prices on the website are for unmanaged servers but they can provide management services too. Support is provided by live chat, phone and tickets.

You can purchase cPanel & Plesk licenses through them too.

For that price the server is unmanaged but they do provide remote hands support. You get 5 static IPs included as basic but unfortunately no RAID unless you opt for a higher server.

Their site is written in plain English so it’s pretty easy to understand, they’re not a bargain basement dedicated server provider but they offer everything you need to stay running.

Their live chat representatives are pretty friendly and answer questions in a straightforward manner.

The best thing about HostDime is that their prices are very low but the servers are fully managed by them and they go the extra mile to help out their customers.

HostDime also own Surpass Hosting, both companies are run by the same people from the same data center in Orlando, FL, both are great. The main difference for you would be that HostDime offer telephone support and are slightly more expensive and Surpass do not.

However, we do wonder if you may as well buy from SoftLayer or ThePlanet direct and cut out the middle man? Prices on the site don’t include management, this is usually around $99.95 per month.

They will install a huge array of operating systems for you, Red Hat ES, SUSE, CentOS, Debian, Fedora Core, Ubuntu, FreeBSD & Windows (license fee applies).

All in all, MidPhase is a large and respected player in the dedicated servers market.

They offer CDP for an extra $60/month and you can even get IPv6 addresses.

All in all, on first look the prices aren’t so attractive, however they bundle in so many features with their dedicated servers that it would definitely be worth a second look.

Overall HostGator are a very successful company, they are huge, by being huge they can offer some amazing prices. HostGator don’t actually host their own servers, they are run by ThePlanet, however both companies work well together and it all seems like a seamless operation.
